RASOR Mobile App

The RASOR mobile app is now an integral part of RASOR tool kit, which includes the RASOR web platform and the QGIS plug-in. The RASOR mobile app was designed to allow the user to create and/or characterize exposure layers during field surveys. The RASOR mobile app is available on android devices (smart phones and tablets).

Characterisation of an existing layer

This functionality allows the user to modify the characterization of an existing layer. This is a very common case, since crowd source mapping systems layers, such as Open Street Map, have a good description of assets in terms of geometries, but are poorly characterized with the information concerning vulnerability.

When the RASOR mobile app is opened, it immediately connects with the on-line RASOR database. The user chose a layer among those displayed and display on the map. The user can visualise his/her position on the map by activating the device GPS functionalities.

During the filed survey the user can check, edit and add new specifications to the attributes. In this phase there is no need to be connected as all the modifications are saved on the device.

All the modifications saved on the device, can be uploaded back to the RASOR database and become available to all the users who had (and still have) the right to access the layer.

Create a new exposure layer

With this functionality the user can not only change the characterization of an asset, modifying its attribute values, but also create a new exposure layers, similarly to the functionalities of the QGIS plug in.

First, the user must specify a title for the layer, chose select the type “exposure”, the category of exposure.

Next, the user selects the type of hazard and impact for which the layer is being characterized.

Finally the user adds new assets, by drawing polygons representing the foot-print of the asset, and completes the attributes feature, as in the previous section.
